RIP GCH CouchField Sheldon JH
Bringing a dog into the family is easier than losing a dog. I remember the day we got Sheldon From Michelle. We were at the Rend Lake National. We were so excited to get him. We brought him into our cabin where he promptly jumped up on the bed, started spinning, and pooped out a sock! He was always the sweetest loving loyal dog. He loved both Chuck and I so much. He always made you smile. Whether he was at a show, hunting, or just hanging out in the vehicles waiting for his next ride; he was just happy to be with us. Sheldon was passionate about hunting, he lived up to his nickname Chuck gave him “The Sheldonator”. He was strong, powerful and had an advanced understanding for locating pheasant. I was always amazed at Sheldon’s natural talent when hunting. Along with Madge, they were the perfect combination of Chuck's Dream team. Madge and Sheldon were yin and yang creating an amazing brace. Together, they did things neither of us had trained them to do, bringing a tear to our eye watching such intelligence and teamwork. If you were lucky enough to hunt with Chuck, you would definitely see them in action and witness a true “Dream Team. It was as if their inner spirits were communicating with each other while they were hunting. We have many good memories of that beautiful big robust orange roan Spinone clearing those Colorado & Kansas fields all day without tiring. I will miss his amazing points, where he exuded Spinoni style and grace while hunting. Sheldon enjoyed showing in the ring as well. Again, I have wonderful memories of seeing that perfect "Ticktock" tail going back and forth as gracefully gaited down and back and around the ring. Sheldon and I were quite a team, sharing many firsts together. No matter who was on the end of the leash, Sheldon was happy, he was even happy showing alongside Chuck. Sheldon was WD at the 1st Rocky Mtn Region Regional Specialty, BOS at the PA National Specialty from the Field Dog class and Eukanuba Best of Breed Winner. My fondest conformation memory was watching my husband go on to BOS at the PA National Specialty. Chuck had no idea what was going on when the judge made her final decisions and it was a thrill for sure to watch my husband figure out he just won BOS. Chuck and I were quite the team with Sheldon. Sheldon leaves behind a proud legacy with his offspring, siring son ”Winston” BISS GCH Dry Grass Chill Winston Uncleruckus JH, who was Select Dog at the 2014 National Specialty, BISS at the 2019 National Specialty. Daughter “Giada” Multi BISS CH Couchfield's Giada Dry Grass who was BISS at the 2013 National Specialty & Parent Club Specialty. Daughter “Rumor” GCH Venticalmi Rumor Has It -Multiple Group Placings. Granddaughter “Leeloo” GCH Dry Grass Senno Ecto Gammat JH was Select bitch at the 2019 National Specialty, and Grandson “Lego” Dry Grass Legolas Of The Woodland Realm was WD who went Best Bred By at the 2019 National Specialty. Sheldon's Great Grand kids show careers are off to a good start with Great GrandDaughter “Belle” GCH Couchfield's Bellini was BOS at the 2019 National Specialty, Venticalmi Le Tigre Pirate was WD at the SCOA 2021 Parent Specialty & RWD at the 2021 National specialty, CH Venticalmi Vizzini WD at the 2021 National Specialty, and Venticalmi Francesca Mama Rughett WB BOW at the 2021AKC National Championship. Most importantly Sheldon was a wonderful loving faithful companion. He aged with grace and never lost his benevolent spirit. He passed quietly at home with us. He felt our love and we felt his devotion to us until the end. Tears are running down my face writing this. His presence is deeply missed and our house seems very very quiet. A wonderful friend of ours wrote this to me after Sheldon's passing: “It's been a tough year for Dry Grass at home. I am reminded though, how many wonderful family members and companions are in the world making people happy and loved. You did that...” Sheldon was a huge part of that as well and he has left a huge hole in our hearts. Thank Michelle for entrusting Sheldon with us many years ago. He was the epitome of what a Spinone should be and he has left behind a significant and lasting legacy. We are so proud of him and I know you are too as his breeder. Run free sweet Sheldon Forry, RIP you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again. GCH Couchfield's Sheldon CGC JH May 27, 2008 – December 17, 2021 |
